About me…
Hey, I’m Stephen.
I’m a Northampton-based life & career coach, counsellor-in-training, husband, part-time writer, wannabe musician, motorcyclist, and increasingly, connoisseur of fine coffee.
But those are just the labels
I’m also someone who loves working with and understanding people: who we are, what shapes us, the choices we make, and what happens when the life we’re living starts to feel different from the life we thought we’d have or want.
A career built around people
For more than 20 years, I’ve worked in leadership roles across a range of organisations and environments.
I’ve led teams, managed change, dealt with difficult situations and supported people through some pretty challenging moments in their careers and personal lives.
Throughout my career, for me, it’s always been about the people.
The conversations. The moments when someone gains confidence, sees something differently, makes a difficult decision, and the smile on someone’s face when they gain self-belief and realise they are capable of more than they thought.
That’s the part of my working life that has always motivated me.
Why coaching?
I wanted to spend more of my time doing the kind of work I love, to continue having meaningful conversations with people and helping them make sense of whatever life is putting in front of them.
That’s what led me to coaching.
And it has also led me to train as a therapeutic counsellor. Both are challenging roles but also deeply rewarding.
For me, it’s about continuing to learn, about people, about relationships, and also about myself.
What I’ve learned along the way
Twenty-plus years of working with people has taught me that nobody has it all figured out all the time.
I’ve seen confident people lose their way, people who doubt themselves achieve remarkable things, and people make enormous changes when they finally give themselves permission to consider what they actually want.
I’ve learned that there isn’t always a neat answer. Sometimes life is messy. Sometimes we’re changing before we even realise it.
And that’s okay.
And outside of work…
I love spending my time out on my motorbike, writing, playing guitar, listening to music, cheering on Northampton Saints, discovering new places for a decent coffee, and most importantly, spending time with the people who matter to me.
I’ve also had that moment where I’ve stopped and reflected on my own life, thought deeply about what’s important, and redefined what success means to me - so I like to keep challenging myself mentally and physically as I create my next chapter.
A few things I believe
People are more than their job title.
Our brains are for having thoughts, not holding on to them.
It’s never too late to pursue yourself.
And sometimes, an honest conversation can change a lot.
If you’ve got something on your mind, you’re welcome to get in touch.
Get in touch
